Luxury at Four Seasons Hotel Seoul
Our choice to stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul was nothing short of perfect. Nestled in the heart of the city, this five-star sanctuary offered impeccable service and luxurious accommodations. From stunning skyline views to exquisite dining options, every moment spent here was a treat.
Gyeongbok Palace: A Glimpse into Korea's Royal Past
Our first cultural stop was Gyeongbok Palace, a symbol of Korea's rich history. Visiting on May 15th, Buddha's birthday, added an unexpected twist – locals and tourists alike adorned in colorful traditional costumes, creating a vibrant tapestry against the palace's ancient architecture. Walking through the grand gates and strolling along the tranquil ponds, we immersed ourselves in the majesty of Korea's royal heritage.
As this was our first time to Korea we were so excited that on the day we went to the Gyeongbok Palace everyone was dressed up. Had I known I would have rented one too.

Bukchon Hanok Village: Tranquility Amidst Urban Buzz
Next, we ventured into Bukchon Hanok Village, where time seemed to stand still. This historic neighborhood, filled with traditional Korean hanok houses, demands a respectful quietude. Meandering through its narrow alleys lined with wooden homes, we marveled at the serene atmosphere, feeling a deep connection to Korea's architectural legacy.
It was so amazing that everyone who was walking through the streets was respectful of the quiet.
Insadong Street: A Shopper's Paradise
Our journey continued to Insadong Street, a lively hub of Korean culture and commerce. Here, amidst quaint tea houses and vibrant galleries, we indulged in traditional Korean handicrafts, ceramics, and artworks, all while using a Korean phrasebook to engage with local artisans. Sampling street food and immersing ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere made our visit truly unforgettable.
There were so many interesting stores- aside from the typical souvenir shops. I even found a store that just sells brushes.
N Seoul Tower: A Panoramic View of Seoul
Our final adventure took us to N Seoul Tower, perched atop Namsan Mountain. Ascending via cable car, we were treated to breathtaking vistas of Seoul's sprawling skyline, made even more enchanting by the need for a Columbia Men's rain jacket to keep dry from the occasional drizzle. As we approached the observatory, we couldn't help but notice the multitude of colorful love locks adorning fences and gates along the way. This charming tradition, where couples secure locks as a symbol of their love and commitment, added an extra layer of romance to our ascent.
The day we went it was raining, but I was amazed at just how many locks were on the gate...
Upon reaching the observatory, we marveled at the cityscape below, illuminated by the twinkling lights of Seoul's vibrant nightlife. Amidst the bustling city, the glimmering locks stood out as tiny tokens of affection, each telling its own unique story against the backdrop of the modern metropolis.
The panoramic view from N Seoul Tower provided not only a stunning visual feast but also a glimpse into the heart of Seoul's cultural tapestry, where ancient traditions and modern expressions harmoniously coexist. As we lingered, taking in the sights and the soft murmur of couples sharing moments together, we felt a sense of connection to this city and its people.
N Seoul Tower's observatory, adorned with love locks and overlooking Seoul in all its brilliance, offered a perfect conclusion to our journey—a testament to the enduring allure of both the city and the timeless ritual of love.
In my next post I will continue telling you all about the rest of our Korean adventure. Stay tuned....
